Thanks for your interest in my writings (you signed up for my writing email list a while back). I’m happy to say that I myself have finally taken a serious interest in them too, and that’s why I’m trying the Substack platform. I hope that this adventure appeals to you and anyone who is game to read a variety of written forms and topics. This platform is exciting and personal. Normal publishers can’t afford to take many chances. They need to take material from agents they trust, and their authors have to brand themselves for publicity purposes, sticking to one genre that is likely to sell.
Here, I’m free of those restrictions. But I have pretty high standards, so I think you won’t find anything sloppy or random or wasting of your time. Not that you’re guaranteed to like everything. People have divergent tastes, so I ask your patience if you don’t care for one piece of writing here. Other pieces are likely to be quite different.
Your comments are welcome. I only ask that you read a piece entirely and allow yourself at least 5 minutes of thought before commenting. (In other words, this is not Facebook!)
I will be posting essays on many topics, such as literary vs political minds, freeloaders, atheists, guns, voting, agency, bike bells, and more. My novels (including published and unpublished works) will be serialized at least for a few chapters; short stories and poems will appear as well. You’ll be able to choose which type of work you subscribe to (I believe that if you click “unsubscribe” it will give you the chance to choose which sections you’d like to subscribe to or unsubscribe from).
I look forward to the journey and hope you find it scenic!
